Black History Month 2026: Influential Figures in Foster Care

As Black History Month comes to a close, we reflect on the powerful stories we shared, and the many more that deserve to be told.

This year, K.E.L.L.Y. Youth Services continued our Influential Figures in Foster Care series by honoring Faith Evans, Rosie Perez, Keegan-Michael Key, and Keyshia Cole, four influential voices whose lives were touched by foster care or adoption and who went on to make a lasting impact in music, film, comedy, and culture.

Each of their journeys tells a deeper story. A story of resilience in the face of instability. A story of identity, healing, and perseverance. A story that reminds us that foster care is not a limitation, it is one chapter in a much larger narrative of strength, purpose, and possibility.

Their experiences reflect what we witness every day at K.E.L.L.Y. Youth Services: when young people are supported, believed in, and provided with stable environments and meaningful opportunities, they can define their own futures and inspire others along the way.

While Black History Month provides a dedicated space to uplift these voices, our commitment to foster youth does not end in February. We remain steadfast in creating safe spaces, strengthening support systems, and building pathways to success for every young person in our care.

Thank you for honoring these stories with us, and for standing with foster youth all year long.

✨ The work continues. The impact lasts.
